Premium datasets
Premium datasets are provider-owned, value-added layers — not public-domain source material. Today that means LAW.co's AI case summaries and citation graph.
LAW.co AI Case Summaries
LAW.co-generated plain-language summary, holding, key issues, topics and procedural posture for a prominence-selected subset of cases. Only enrichment that passed LAW.co's QA gate (published / approved / auto) is exposed. Machine-generated; not citable as authority.

- U.S. federal, U.S. state

LAW.co Case Citation Graph
Directed citation edges between cases (citing case → cited authority, with pin cite), seeded from CAP cites_to data and extended with eyecite extraction on ingest. Exposed per case as 'authorities cited' and 'cited by'.

Value the provider adds, not data it found
A dataset is listed here when its provider sets the pricing tier to premium. Today that is 2 datasets, both LAW.co's own work rather than public source material.
The AI case summaries add a summary, holding, key issues, topics and procedural posture to a published subset of cases, generated in a daily batch that is limited by LAW.co's monthly enrichment budget. The citation graph links cases to the authorities they cite and the cases that cite them, capped per case upstream.
Both are licensed as LAW.co proprietary under its Terms of Use, so redistributing them through Data.co needs the intercompany license that is still pending.
Premium is a statement about ownership and effort, not about accuracy. A premium label tells you a provider has invested in building the data and expects to be paid for it; it does not mean the data has been audited. That is why each listing below repeats its own license, schedule and fields, so you can judge it on what it actually contains.
Check a derived layer before you rely on it
- 1
Look for the derived flag
Summary records are designed to carry provenance with an is_derived flag and the generator that produced them.
- 2
Read it against the source
Compare a summary or holding with the opinion text it describes. Generated text can be wrong, and it is not legal advice.
- 3
Check coverage
Only a published subset of cases has summaries, and the citation graph lists a capped number of links per case.
- 4
Mind redistribution
Paid-license data is for licensed use. Do not republish it outside your own product without the rights to do so.

Premium starts on Pro
Pro ($149/mo) and Business ($799/mo) include the premium tier in their dataset entitlements; the Free plan ($0) does not. Enterprise agreements are quoted and add contract-only datasets.
Any provider pricing on top of a plan has not been published and depends on the pending LAW.co agreement. Access runs through the same key over REST and MCP; see plans and pricing for what each level includes.
Premium dataset questions
Why are the summaries premium when the opinions are standard?
The opinion text is public domain. The summaries and citation graph are created and owned by LAW.co, so they are priced as licensed, value-added data.
Can I try a premium dataset first?
Each listing shows its schema and labeled demo records. The Free plan does not include premium data, so evaluate against the demo shape first.
Which AI model generates the summaries?
Summary records are designed to name their generator in the provenance block. Check that field on live records rather than relying on a description here.
Are AI summaries reviewed by lawyers?
The catalog does not state that they are, so do not assume it. Treat them as machine-generated and check them against the opinion text.
How do premium datasets relate to the opinions?
They are layers over the standard-tier court opinions. Over REST, summaries are designed to arrive as an enrichment block on a case record, and the citation graph as authorities and cited-by arrays keyed by case id.
When will premium pricing be published?
When the intercompany agreement with LAW.co covering redistribution and pricing is signed. Until then no premium dataset can be purchased.
