Your data. Your infrastructure. Your AI.
Data.co builds the infrastructure and controls that let organizations use AI on their most sensitive data without sending it anywhere they do not choose. We think the organizations that hold the most important data should not have to give it up to benefit from AI.
The best data is the data nobody will send to an API.
Hospitals, banks, law firms, manufacturers, and governments hold the records that would make AI most useful. They are also the organizations least able to send those records to a third-party model service. The result is a gap: AI improves fastest where the data is least sensitive.
We started Data.co to close that gap from the other direction. Instead of asking regulated organizations to trust a hosted service, we bring the models, the retrieval, and the governance to the infrastructure they already control, and we make the access decisions explainable enough that a security team can sign off on them.
How we make decisions.
Customer infrastructure first
The product runs where your data runs. Our hosted service handles accounts and billing, not your content.
Deterministic control
Access decisions come from explicit, testable policy, never from a model's judgment.
Evidence over assurances
We would rather give you an audit log than a promise. Claims should be checkable.
Open model choice
Run the open-weight models that fit your work. We do not lock you to one model provider.
Plain language
We describe what the product does and what it does not do, including the parts that remain your responsibility.
Licensed data, respected
Datasets on our Marketplace carry their providers' terms. We do not assume rights we were not given.
Four parts of one approach.
| Offering | What it is |
|---|---|
| Data.co Control | Policy engine, identities, classification, AI and MCP gateways, and audit, running in your environment |
| Private AI | Open-weight models, RAG, and agents served on your hardware |
| Infrastructure and managed services | Sizing, procurement, deployment, and operation of on-prem, private cloud, and air-gapped systems |
| Data.co Marketplace | Licensed datasets delivered by API, MCP server, or download, starting with legal data from LAW.co |
What we will and will not do with your data.
These follow from the architecture rather than from a policy we could quietly change. Where a commitment depends on a contract, the contract says so.
- We will not receive your prompts, documents, embeddings, or records through the product
- We will not train any model on customer data
- We will not require an internet connection for access decisions or inference
- We will not collect operational telemetry unless you opt in, and even then only health and version data
- We will access a deployment only when you grant it, for support or under a managed services agreement
- We will say which obligations stay with you instead of implying the product covers them
Engineering habits that customers can check.
Decisions you can replay
The policy engine is deterministic: the same request and policy set always produce the same decision, the same policy IDs, and the same input hash.
Fail closed by default
An invalid policy, an unreadable license, or an audit write that fails results in a denial, not a silent pass.
Tests next to rules
Policies ship with test cases, and a failing test blocks activation. The examples on our site are checked against the real engine.
Status stated plainly
Our security documentation separates what is in place, what is being added, and what is planned. Public pages describe only what is in place.
Who stands behind Data.co.
Data.co is a trade name of Nead, LLC, an Arkansas limited liability company. Contracts, licenses, and data processing terms are entered into by Nead, LLC doing business as Data.co.
We would rather be judged on the product's behavior than on claims about ourselves. That is why this page has no customer logos or growth figures: when we can publish evidence, such as a third-party attestation or a named reference that has agreed to be listed, it will appear on the trust center and here.
Data.co and LAW.co.
LAW.co is an affiliated legal data platform and the first data provider on the Data.co Marketplace. Its datasets are offered under their own license terms.
Questions buyers ask
What does Data.co actually sell?
Software that runs in your infrastructure to govern AI access to data, the infrastructure and managed services to run it, and licensed datasets through the Data.co Marketplace.
Is Data.co a cloud AI provider?
No. We do not host your models or your data. The product is deployed in your environment; app.data.co handles accounts, licensing, and billing only.
Who is Data.co for?
Organizations with sensitive or regulated data that want to use AI under their own control, typically led by a CTO, CISO, or head of data.
How can we follow Data.co's progress?
Our blog and research pages publish product and technical updates, and the trust center lists security and compliance status as it becomes available.
What legal entity do we contract with?
Nead, LLC, an Arkansas limited liability company doing business as Data.co.
Does Data.co build its own foundation models?
No. Deployments serve open-weight models from their publishers through vLLM or Ollama, plus any OpenAI-compatible endpoint you register and approve. Our work is the control layer, the infrastructure, and the data around the models.
